Panel Discussion: Education Rights and State Constitutions

The State Democracy Research Initiative invites you to join us for “Education Rights and State Constitutions” on Friday, September 12 from 3:00-4:15pm Central Time, with a reception to follow. This event will take place in-person in room 2260 in the UW Law School, with the option to attend virtually.

The panel will focus on the positive right to education found in state constitutions. Panelists will discuss a range of topics including the current landscape of public education; the impact of state constitutional provisions on public education funding and equality; and what state constitutions suggest about the respective roles of public and private schools.

Our panelists will include Scott Bauries (University of South Carolina Joseph F. Rice School of Law), Michael Bindas (Institute for Justice), Janel George (Georgetown Law), and Preston Green (University of Connecticut School of Education). This panel will be moderated by Miriam Seifter (University of Wisconsin Law School).
