Wisconsin State Journal: Wisconsin Supreme Court wrestles with ‘absurd’ 400-year school funding veto

"The Wisconsin Supreme Court on Wednesday struggled to define the limits of the governor's veto power amid debate over one of Democratic Gov. Tony Evers partial vetoes last year that even liberal justices called 'absurd' and 'outrageous.' The lawsuit — filed in April by attorneys with Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce on behalf of taxpayers from Green Bay and Kimberly — challenges what attorneys have called an "imaginative veto" Evers issued in July 2023 before signing the state's current two-year spending plan that locked in K-12 school funding for the next 400 years."
