State Constitutions and Climate Change

On October 27th, The State Democracy Research Initiative and the Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies hosted a panel discussion titled: “State Constitutions and Climate Change.” Moderator, and SDRI Co-Director, Professor Miriam Seifter was joined by of Former Hawaii Supreme Court Justice Michael Wilson, Dean Elizabeth Kronk Warner (S.J. Quinney College of Law), Professor Shelley Welton (Penn Carey Law School), and Professor Jonathan Adler (Case Western Reserve Law School) to discuss the interactions between State Constitutions and Climate Change. The Panel covered many topics, including state constitutional rights to a healthy environment, indigenous perspectives on environmental law, and the role of nuisance law in environmental protection.
