The State Democracy Research Initiative invites you to join us for “Public Law in the States: The Work of State Supreme Courts” on Friday, May 29, from 9:00-10:30am Central Time. A light breakfast will be provided starting at 8:30am, and the panel will be followed by a reception. This event will take place in person in the Alumni Lounge at the Pyle Center, with the option to attend virtually. This panel has been approved for 1.5 WI CLE credits.
Participating justices from around the country will share their experiences and perspectives and help to shine a light on the important work of state high courts. Topics of discussion will include how state court systems are distinctive, how state-level approaches to adjudication might differ from federal approaches, and aspects of state law that warrant greater attention from scholars and the public.
The State Democracy Research Initiative is delighted to welcome Justice Verda Colvin (Georgia Supreme Court), Justice Rebecca Dallet (Wisconsin Supreme Court), Chief Justice Matthew Fader (Maryland Supreme Court), Justice Patricia Lee (Nevada Supreme Court), and Justice Evan Young (Texas Supreme Court). The panel will be moderated by State Democracy Research Initiative Co-Director Professor Rob Yablon.
Registration information to come.
