Housing Rights and State Constitutions

On September 27th, the State Democracy Research Initiative hosted a panel discussion titled, “Housing Rights and State Constitutions”. Moderated by SDRI Faculty Co-Director Professor Miriam Seifter, panelists Professor Lisa Alexander (Boston College Law School), Professor Christopher Elmendorf (UC Davis School of Law), Dave Giffen (Coalition for the Homeless), and Diana Simpson (Institute for Justice) discussed the role of state constitutions and institutions in addressing housing shortages, as well as questions of development planning and the rights of unhoused people.
