The State Democracy Research Initiative and the UW GovLaw Society invite you to join us for “Local Perspectives: Mayors in American Governance” on Tuesday, April 1, from 12:00-1:00pm Central Time, followed by a meet and greet with the panelists. This event will take place in person in Lubar Commons on the seventh floor of the UW Law School. Lunch will be provided.
This panel will highlight the important work of local governments by offering perspectives from mayors from around the United States. Our panelists will discuss the varied structures and powers of their local governments as well as their interactions with the public and with other officials at the local, state, and federal levels. Panelists will include Mayor Julia Arata-Fratta of Fitchburg, Wisconsin; Mayor David Holt of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Mayor Kim Norton of Rochester, Minnesota; Mayor Steve Patterson of Athens, Ohio; and Mayor Sangeetha Rayapati of Moline, Illinois. Professor Miriam Seifter will moderate the discussion.
